    The purpose of the New York Connection is to assist undergraduate students with their career planning by:

    • Gathering information regarding professional life in New York City
    • Exploring interests, values, and skills and connecting them to the workforce
    • Hearing real-life accounts of "life at work"
    • Exposing students to a variety of employers in the communication and arts fields
    • Learning about the career paths and responsibilities of Emerson College alumni
    • Allowing for formal and informal conversations and networking between students and alumni

      The following are the employer site hosts for the 2014 New York Connection trip. Each track has a different focus, but all majors interested in broadening their industry knowledge are welcome to register with the track of their choice regardless of major.

    Buses will leave for New York at 7:00 am and will leave New York to return to Boston by 8:00 pm.

    Costs for this trip will be $25.00 (NONREFUNDABLE). Payment must be submitted upon registration by credit card.

    Career Services will offer a New York Connection Prep Session before the trip. Students who registered through eHire will be invited to join the prep session, which will take place Thursday, March 13th at 3:00pm in the Career Services conference room.

    Registration:

    Students will be able to register for the New York Connection trip on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28TH at 9:00AM. Registration is completed through eHire. Please log onto eHire prior to the registration date to ensure your login information is correct and you have familiarized yourself with the database. All site visits will be listed on eHire under separate tracks. To register for the event, you will need to complete the following:

    Log onto eHire with your username and password. Please remember your username is in an email format.

  • Intro to Final Cut Pro X

    This workshop will introduce you to the basics of nonlinear video editing with Final Cut Pro X. This workshop is an ideal starting point for anyone who wants to learn how to use latest version of Apple's professional editing software. You are encouraged to bring an external Firewire or Thunderbolt hard drive with you to this session. Sample footage will be provided, but feel free to bring your own to work on.   • NEXTtalk: OPT and Beyond

    Featuring Ketan Deshpande, Emilia Radeva, and Sophie Yaoyi Cui

    Panel discussion on life in the US after OPT. Emerson grads share their experiences and insights on living and working in Boston.

    Panelist Bios:
    Sophie Cui is originally from China and graduated from the IMC program in 2010. Since graduating, she has completed a number of interships and worked with a variety of companies. She is currently a Senior Optimization Analyst at Nanigans, a Boston-based ad-tech startup.

    Ketan Deshpande from New Delhi, India, graduated from the IMC program in 2012. During the course of the program, he worked as a Marketing Associate for the Emerson Channel on campus and did multiple internships in ad agencies and PR firms. He currently works at Porter Novelli, a PR firm in downtown Boston, doing media relations and social media marketing.

    Emilia Radeva is originally from Sofia, Bulgaria. She graduated from the IMC program in 2012 and currently works as an Online Marketing Coordinator for Rakuten Loyalty.
