Commencement

Congratulations, Class of 2024!

Emerson's Commencement ceremony is the community’s opportunity to celebrate the graduating class. Our goal is to provide an experience that honors the hard work and achievement of our graduates, while ensuring the safety of all attendees.

The College is aware that there have been protests at a number of college commencement ceremonies this year. We support the right to peaceful protest, and we wish to present an event that all attendees can enjoy. To that end, the College plans to address protests, should they take place, that are designed to disrupt the ceremony or detract from the experience of our graduates and their guests.

As in the past, this year’s Commencement event will:

  • Require ticketing
  • Prohibit large signs or banners that obstruct the view of others
  • Prohibit disruption of the ceremony
  • Ensure that all attendees adhere to the guidelines and regulations set by our host, Boston University

Emerson College hopes all attendees can come together in the spirit of unity and support for our graduating class, recognizing their achievements and the exciting journeys that lie ahead for each of them.

Health and Safety

For the safety of all, Emerson may at its discretion, or under the direction of government or health authorities, change ceremony plans regarding modalities, activities, or venues. Additionally, venues may choose to adopt more stringent requirements and it is important to visit and revisit their websites as the ceremony nears.

Ceremonies

Emerson College holds graduation ceremonies once a year in May for graduates of the current academic year (September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024). If you will earn your degree in December 2023 or in August 2024, your ceremony will be in May 2024. Speech@Emerson graduates will have their own graduation ceremony at the conclusion of Immersion 2. Graduating students may only participate in the ceremony that coincides with the academic year of their degree completion.
