Israela Adah Brill-Cass

Israela is a dispute resolution professional with over 20 years of experience, first as an attorney, then as a mediator, facilitator, trainer, consultant and coach. Her goal has always been to help people recognize their options and give them the tools they need to succeed which is why she created her company, fixerrr.

Israela has worked with a wide variety of clients through her mediation, training, and consulting practice. Over the last fifteen years - twelve of which as Executive Director of Boston Law Collaborative, LLC - Israela has taught mediation, negotiation, conciliation, arbitration, and facilitation skills workshops for clients such as the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Administrative Office of the Trial Court, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE), and the Massachusetts Office of Dispute Resolution (now known as the Massachusetts Office of Public Collaboration).

She has also designed and managed conflict resolution programs for the Massachusetts Superior Court, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, federal agencies, and private corporations including the Gillette/Procter and Gamble Severance Denial Appeal Program.

Israela's mediation practice is informed by her experiences working in the court system and public sector. Since 2011, Israela has been a member of the Administrative Office of the Trial Court's Standing Committee on Dispute Resolution. During her five years at the Massachusetts Office of Dispute Resolution, she facilitated intra-agency disputes and created the first federally-funded Agricultural Mediation Program in New England. At the American Arbitration Association, Israela also managed Large Complex Commercial Disputes for cases exceeding $1 million in claims.

Israela teaches courses in Conflict and Negotiation, Mediation, Persuasion and the Law. She has been part of the faculty at the Society of Grownups (a MassMutual Learning Initiative) teaching salary negotiation since its launch in 2014, and also part of MCLE's faculty for mediation and ADR training programs for the past 10 years. Israela served as Co-Chair of MCLE's Annual ADR and the Law Conference for its first three years (2009-2011) and again in 2014.

Israela has authored several articles on conflict management, employment and mediation issues in publications ranging from the ABA, the Family Mediation Quarterly, and the BBC Capital. She is also a contributing author to the book, Mediation: A Practice Guide for Mediators, Lawyers, and Other Professionals (MCLE, Nov. 2013).

In 2011, 2012 and 2015, Israela was recognized as a New England Super Lawyer, a list published annually by Boston Magazine and Thompson-Reuters of lawyers viewed by their peers as being in the top 5% of the profession, and named in "The Top Women Attorneys in Massachusetts," a special section of the April 2013 and upcoming 2016 issues of Boston Magazine.

Israela is a Community Leader and Champion Volunteer for Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit organization, and appeared in their "Everyday Essentials" video.
