International Seminar/Practicum in China

This course allows GMCA students a substitute for GM690 Internship for Global Marketing Communication and Advertising. This course is intended to expand GMCA students’ knowledge of global marketing, and provide a unique experience exploring media and marketing communications practices in China.
This 4-credit course will be taught as a seminar/practicum, allowing students to observe media and marketing communication practices in both Shanghai and Hong Kong. The course allows students to apply what they learn in the classroom to real global business environments. Part of the program itinerary includes attending guest lectures relating to global marketing, public relations, and business. In this comparative program, students will visit local companies in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Students will also participate in cultural visits including traditional Chinese dinners, a tour of Shanghai's World Financial Center and a walking tour along the Bund river, amongst other sites. In Hong Kong students will experience life as a local with traditional dinners, the Symphony of Lights, dinner in the street markets and a visit to Macau. Cost of guides, transportation and entry fees are included in the program fees.
