Announcement

Emerson College is pleased to announce its first low-residency Master of Fine Arts program in Writing for Film and Television. Beginning in August 2016, the two-year program will offer six-day residencies each semester that alternate between Emerson’s campuses in Boston and Los Angeles. The fully accredited graduate program builds on the College’s long-standing tradition of academic excellence, and is housed in its acclaimed Department of Visual and Media Arts.

Embracing new forms of learning, the low-residency MFA is designed to make education accessible to students who want to pursue the study of writing for film and television without the time and location constraints of an on-campus program.

The program draws upon Emerson’s distinguished faculty of working writers, directors, and producers, and will feature master classes, workshops, and screenings with preeminent professional writers. Students enrolled in the low-residency MFA program will learn to write for both film and television, ensuring maximum opportunity for success in today’s global entertainment industry.

Each residency is followed by semester-long online classes and writing workshops, allowing students to delve deeper into the writing experience. Upon completion of the program, creative portfolios will include a range of work including short scripts, webisodes, pilots, feature films, cable movies, and miniseries.
