Bright Lights: TEY (Today)
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Bright Family Screening Room
A young Senegalese man, Satche (Saul Williams) returns home from studying abroad. Satche has one last day to live as he has been chosen to die. He wanders through the streets of his hometown, meeting old friends and family, while re-assessing his life, in an attempt to gain closure before dying.
The community gets involved as he is given a hero's send off, with everyone joining in the celebrations to bid him farewell.
Sache embarks on an internal journey grappling with myriad emotions, and dealing with existential questions of whether he has lived enough to be ready to embrace his destiny. He must overcome his fears and accept his fate. In this beautifully shot, spellbinding film, a thought provoking story about coming to terms with death in order to better appreciate the present is told.
Spoken word artist Saul Williams' stellar performance is poetry in motion.
