Gerzof Richard on bombings and social media
April 18, 2013
Marketing Communication part-time faculty member David Gerzof Richard spoke to NECN and the Boston Herald on the effects social media is having on the Boston Marathon bombings investigation and how information is being distributed publicly.
During the attacks, he told the Herald social media helped stop people from “running into what was essentially a war zone.” Gerzof Richard told NECN that in the aftermath of the attacks, social media leads to self-policing of inaccurate information. “There are citizen journalists we’re getting on Twitter and Facebook saying, ‘No, this is incorrect,’” he said.
