Communication is at the core of modern life. At Emerson College, the School of Communication’s innovative programs prepare students to be leaders in areas such as public relations, marketing, advertising, journalism, political communication, sports communication, communication disorders, management in the creative industries, and digital media.

The School of Communication is home to four academic departments: Communication Sciences and Disorders, Communication Studies, Journalism, and Marketing Communication. Our faculty have worked in newsrooms, built elaborate websites, consulted for healthcare organizations, worked with children and adults who have hearing impairments, served as corporate public relations managers, developed crisis communication plans, helped political candidates shape and communicate messages, and created award-winning advertising campaigns. Through classes, projects, campaigns, co-curricular activities, and practical demonstrations of effective communication, they work collaboratively with our talented and passionate students to create an immersive and student-centered learning environment.
