Dr. Leah Vonderheide is a scholar of global film and media. Her teaching and research interests include Indigenous-made media, feminist film theory, and strategies of resistance across fiction, documentary, and experimental film. Her current book project explores the critical role played by Māori filmmaker Merata Mita in decolonizing the screen for Indigenous media artists across the globe and was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipend in 2020.
Her work has been published in Studies in Documentary Film and is forthcoming in Camera Obscura: Feminism, Culture, and Media Studies.
