In his professional capacity, Mark excels in leading and developing media, programs, organizations, and technologies that challenge the status quo. His content creation efforts support public diplomacy, health, and service-oriented organizations dedicated to improving humanity's well-being.

Educational Philosophy

As an educator, Mark adopts a constructivist teaching style that emphasizes practical application and hands-on learning in all his courses, including Digital Storytelling, Podcasting, Non-Profit Communications Management, and Sports Communications. His students, regardless of the course, gain real-world experience and acquire the skills needed to excel in the workforce.

Student Engagement and Mentorship

Mark is the founder and faculty advisor of Common Collective, an Emerson College student organization. This group leverages communication skills to benefit the community while offering students opportunities to refine their craft in real-world settings such as video production, podcasting, sports broadcasting, and communications training for non-profit organizations.

Ongoing Projects

Mark's current projects highlight his innovative approach and commitment to education and public service:

  • SmartPhone StoryFest: A film festival that democratizes digital storytelling and encourages creativity by requiring films to be made using only smartphones.
  • Rediscover Rosarito Film Festival: Located in Baja, Mexico, this festival connects Emerson students with Mexican filmmakers, fostering public diplomacy activities.
  • The Center for Nonprofit Communications: An initiative focused on enhancing communication strategies for non-profit organizations.

Through these initiatives, Mark continues to inspire and equip the next generation of communication professionals with the expertise and experiences necessary to make a significant impact in their fields.
