David Kelleher

Senior Affiliated Faculty, School of Film, Television, and Media Arts

David Kelleher specializes in emerging media and educational technologies, and is the founder of Desera Interactive, a service for teaching technology curriculum. He has presented at conferences on web technologies, user experience design, and community-engaged learning.

Kelleher’s projects include Peace Play, virtual reality and printed card adaptations of a therapeutic tool for the Boston community; Sky Canopy, an outdoor projected social video game incorporating pressure-sensitive mats; and Electric Hustle, a juggling act wired to generate live electronic music.

He has consulted for over 100 startup businesses, nonprofit organizations, and Fortune 500 companies. His two decades of industry experience include 3D animation for National Geographic’s Naked Science television program, social impact game development for Virginia Tobacco Prevention Services, interactive development for Intel training applications, radio and TV advertisements for a New York diamond manufacturer, audio editing for Tom Snyder Productions, web development work for dozens of nonprofit organizations, and web services programming for tech startups such as Functional Specs, Inc. and the Tripod Project by Harvard researcher Ronald Ferguson.

He was an Emerson College AI in the Curriculum initiative participant in 2025, Open Education VILLA initiative participant in 2024, Social Impact Faculty Fellow from 2022-2025, and Inclusive Excellence Faculty Fellow in 2017. He also served as an instructor for The Coding Boot Camp at Harvard Extension School in 2019.
