Delia Cabe

Delia Cabe’s book, Storied Bars of New York: Where Literary Luminaries Go to Drink, published by Countryman Press/W.W. Norton, tells the stories of writers past and present and the pubs, taverns, and bars where they discussed all things bookish, and sometimes raised a little hell. Her book was chosen by the Empire State Center for the Book as its 2019 Route One Reads selection and was recommended by the 10th Archivist of the U.S. National Archives.

Her work has appeared in Self, Prevention, Health, Boston Globe Magazine, Boston.com, Scientific American Presents, Experience Magazine, Washington Independent Review of Books, as well as other newspapers and magazines. Cabe has written cases about NPR, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Christian Science Monitor, and the Washington Post for the Columbia University School of Journalism.

Cabe, a native New Yorker, started her journalism career as a freelance feature writer for the Fayetteville (NC) Times and Fayetteville (NC) Observer. She also was a columnist for a local North Carolina newspaper. She has served as an editor for health websites and for Radcliffe Magazine. She is on the Steering Committee of the Writers for Democratic Action—Massachusetts Chapter.

She has taught journalism and magazine storytelling at Harvard University Extension School and Salem State University. She has guest-lectured at University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and Pine Manor College, and given talks about her book to various groups, including the Princeton Club, and at various libraries and bookstores.
