Emily Scherny Headshot

Emily Scherny teaches first-year students in the Writing Studies program and the Writing, Literature and Publishing Department. A two-time Emerson alumna, she hopes to share her passion for learning and creativity by inspiring her students to work to celebrate their individual experiences and talents, amplifying their voices on and off the page.

In addition to instructing her students on research methodology and the essay as a prolific creative genre, she is a voracious reader and writer, chiefly of fiction, and also nonfiction. In 2018, she began writing professionally as a news correspondent for the The Herald Newsand Taunton Daily Gazette, and a story of hers was named a finalist for Glimmer Train‘s open fiction contest in 2017.

She is currently working on two novels and a collection of short stories.
