Kimberly Dahl

Dr. Kimberly Dahl, CCC-SLP, is director of the SMALL Lab, where she and her team research speech motor control in the contexts that make up day-to-day interactions. Through this work, Dr. Dahl seeks to better understand the many factors that contribute to effective communication, with the ultimate goal of improving speech outcomes for people with neurodegenerative diseases and people seeking to align their voice with their identity.

At Emerson, Dr. Dahl mentors student researchers at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. As a certified speech-language pathologist, her work is informed by her clinical background at Oregon Health & Science University’s NW Clinic for Voice & Swallowing, and Massachusetts General Hospital’s Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation.

Dr. Dahl has received funding from the National Institutes of Health, ASHFoundation, American Speech-Language Hearing Association, Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the Marion and Jasper Whiting Foundation.
