Lindsay Griffin
Associate Professor, School of Communication
Dr. Lindsay Griffin is a medical speech-language pathologist with clinical and research interests in the neural mechanisms of normal and disordered swallowing in adults. She studies methods of augmenting traditional dysphagia rehabilitation using electrical and sensory stimulation, as well as ways to improve swallowing evaluation procedures.
She has published her work in several peer-reviewed journals, including Dysphagia; American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology; Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research; Experimental Brain Research; and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Griffin directs the EATS (Evaluation and Treatment of Swallowing) Lab at Emerson, and supplements course materials with evidence-based practice techniques and examples from her clinical experiences across the continuum of care.
She frequently presents at American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) conventions and serves as an expert content reviewer for several scientific journals. She has co-authored publications on the development of the “Green Light Tool” for early speech-language pathology involvement in tracheostomy care and is a frequent guest speaker at clinical grand rounds and professional podcasts.
