Over a more than 30-year career in book publishing, Lissa Warren has worked at publishing houses including David R. Godine, Houghton Mifflin, the Perseus Books Group, and the Hachette Book Group, where she was vice president, senior director of publicity, and acquiring editor at Da Capo Press.
At Da Capo, Warren acquired and edited Jaed Coffin’s A Chant to Soothe Wild Elephants, Doug Stewart’s The Boy Who Would Be Shakespeare, David Wolman’s The End of Money, and Douglas Whynott’s The Sugar Season, a Boston Globe Best Book of 2014. Authors Warren publicized while in house include musicians Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, and Kennedy Center honoree Buddy Guy; Academy Award-winning actor Alan Arkin; memoirist Esmeralda Santiago (When I Was Puerto Rican); and journalist Buzz Bissinger (Friday Night Lights).
In 2019, she founded Lissa Warren PR, which focuses on publicity for books, authors, publishing companies, and cultural organizations. Her clients have included Harvard Law School, MIT Press, Abrams Press, Seven Stories Press, the Martha’s Vineyard Author Series, and Print Day in May, and she has promoted titles by Tim O’Brien, Claudia Rowe, Carla Kaplan, Tim Wendel, and Kwame Alexander, whose The Undefeated she helped onto The New York Times bestseller list.
Warren serves on the Beacon Press advisory board, and speaks at universities, book festivals, and writers’ conferences.
