Manuel Basanese

Manuel (Manny) Basanese has been a working television writer/producer and member of the WGA since 1987. His produced credits include Wizards of Waverly Place, Major Dad, The Wayans Bros., Family Matters, The Tracey Ullman Show, and True Jackson, V.P. among many others.

Basanese served as Co-Executive Producer on Warner Brothers’ The Steve Harvey Show and has written twenty episodes for the series.

In addition to his series and staff work, he has sold pilots to “E!” Channel, Sony Television, the Disney Channel and Paramount.

He is also the author of Writing the Comedy Pilot Script: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating an Original TV Series (Focal Press, 2021).

At Emerson, Basanese teaches courses in Screenwriting and Comedy. He also Co-Founded and is the current Co-Director of Emerson’s Global Pathways summer study abroad program on British comedy in London and Edinburgh (From Shakespeare to Stand-Up).
