Mark Brodie is an accomplished expert in integrated marketing communication and digital narrative, with extensive experience across various projects, productions, publications, and services in Europe, Asia, Southeast Asia, Central and South America, and the Middle East. In his professional capacity, he excels in leading and developing media, programs, organizations, and technologies that challenge the status quo. His content creation efforts support public diplomacy, health, and service-oriented organizations dedicated to improving humanity’s well-being. As an educator, Brodie adopts a constructivist teaching style that emphasizes practical application and hands-on learning in all his courses, including Digital Storytelling, Podcasting, Non-Profit Communications Management, and Sports Communications. His students, regardless of the course, gain real-world experience and acquire the skills needed to excel in the workforce.
Brodie is the founder and faculty advisor of Common Collective, an Emerson College student organization. This group leverages communication skills to benefit the community while offering students opportunities to refine their craft in real-world settings such as video production, podcasting, sports broadcasting, and communications training for non-profit organizations.
Brodie’s current projects highlight his innovative approach and commitment to education and public service. This includes SmartPhone StoryFest:, a film festival that democratizes digital storytelling and encourages creativity by requiring films to be made using only smartphones and Rediscover Rosarito Film Festival, a festival in Baja, Mexico that connects Emerson students with Mexican filmmakers, fostering public diplomacy activities, and The Center for Nonprofit Communications, an initiative focused on enhancing communication strategies for non-profit organizations. Through these initiatives, Brodie inspires and equips the next generation of communication professionals with the expertise and experiences necessary to make a significant impact in their fields.
