Maryam Salehomoum
Senior Scholar-In-Residence, School of Communication
Dr. Maryam Salehomoum is a speech-language pathologist with expertise in deafness and literacy development. She has over 20 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings.
Dr. Salehomoum’s current area of research is focused on communication access and efficacy. Her work has been supported by Ability Central (Disability Communications Fund) and Emerson College. She has presented her research at national and international conferences, including the American Speech Language and Hearing Association conference and the International Conference on Sign Language Acquisition, and has published her work in several peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Salehomoum developed the Speech@Emerson Foundations of Audiology and Aural Rehabilitation courses. Her teaching practices aim to promote active participation, critical thinking, inclusion of multiple voices, and an ideology of learning as a life-long commitment.
