Matt Ollis
Associate Professor, School of Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies
Dr. Matt Ollis is a mathematician with primary research interests in combinatorics and graph theory. He taught at Marlboro College for 16 years, where he supported students in independent and interdisciplinary work across many fields. Ollis brought these interests to Emerson in 2020.
When teaching in the Quantitative Reasoning Perspectives curriculum, he brings in a variety of subjects that relate to students’ academic interests, such as movies and music, and subjects that equip them for life outside and beyond Emerson, such as personal finance and quantitative aspects of media literacy. Outside the Quantitative Reasoning perspective, Ollis regularly teaches a First-Year Seminar in game studies, and co-teaches an upper level course in cartography.
He continues to be an active mathematical researcher, with almost 40 published papers.
