Nydia Bou

For over 29 years, Dr. Nydia Bou has performed a variety of roles in higher education, including teaching, administration, program development, assessment, accreditation, and grant writing. Within the speech-language pathology field, her areas of interest include Spanish phonetics and phonology, speech perception, and speech production analysis.

At her former roles, Dr. Bou led various initiatives geared toward the recruitment, retention, and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. She also worked in the development and establishment of pipeline programs for minority students in health professions. In her leadership positions as dean of the School of Health Sciences, and ultimately, as vice chancellor of Academic Affairs, she had the opportunity of developing, establishing, and overseeing curricular content that met the standards of accreditation of speech-language pathology, as well as other health professions including nutrition, nursing, and naturopathic medicine.

Her professional interests include higher education administration, program development, assessment, accreditation, and compliance. She currently serves in the CAPCSD’s Academic Affairs Committee and the AI Taskforce.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Bou is fluent both in English and Spanish. Outside of work she enjoys running. On April 2025 she became a World Major Marathons Finisher, becoming one of the 25 Puerto Rican women who had completed this running journey.
