Sabrina Learman

Sabrina Learman aims to help each singer understand that spontaneously expressive singing demands an intimate familiarity with the unique workings of their own voice and body – and a sincere appreciation for the miraculous gift of a one-of-a-kind instrument. As each student works to uncover their supremely authentic sound, Learman invites them to focus inward, on their next technical steps, combined with the freedom to play and vocally experiment. She hopes her students will have something new to ponder by the end of every lesson and that they will join her in this truly joyful practice of continual vocal discovery.

Learman’s students have been heard and seen in Broadway (and off-Broadway) productions and international tours (including Hamilton, A Beautiful Noise, RENT, American Idiot, Les Misérables). You can hear them on cruise ships, at summer stock, and open mics. They have been accepted to prestigious conservatory and summer programs in musical theatre and opera, and they have taken prizes in a myriad of local and national competitions.

She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and Musical Theater Educators’ Alliance, and is a mentor for the University of Rochester/Eastman School of Music. A serious student of breath work and yoga, Learman folds these concepts into her own teaching. In addition to her work at Emerson, she teaches or has taught voice at ArtsBridge, Lyric First Stage, My College Audition, Fusion Arts Exchange, Hotchkiss Summer Portals Vocal Chamber program, Summer Institute for the Vocal Arts, New England Conservatory, and University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth.
