Scott LaFeber
Associate Professor and Head of Musical Theatre, School of Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies
Scott LaFeber has acted on Broadway, off-Broadway, in London, regionally, on television (including two years on daytime’s Search for Tomorrow) and for voice-overs (including Emmy Award-winning segments for PBS).
He has directed across the country with eminent actors such as Olivier Award-winner Laura Michelle Kelly and Tony Award nominees Terrence Mann and Dee Hoty. Scott had a long association with the renowned Williamstown Theatre Festival as an actor, cabaret performer, and stage manager. In addition to performing in cabarets in New York, he has also stage managed on Broadway, off Broadway, and for many LORT/regional productions around the country.
From 1996-2006, LaFeber served as artistic director of The New Harmony Theatre, a LORT summer theater in Indiana where he developed and directed the world premiere of Thom Thomas’ A Moon To Dance By; the play was subsequently optioned and received a Pulitzer Prize nomination for Best Play in 2009.
LaFeber received acting training at The Circle-in-the-Square Theatre School in New York, and in London. He has taught at Duke University, Rollins College, The University of Utah and the University of Southern Indiana, where he served concurrently as chair of the theatre department and artistic director of The New Harmony Theatre.
A long-standing member of The Southeastern Theatre Conference, LaFeber served as head of the Professional Division, and as chair of the Auditions Committee. He is a union member of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SDC); a member of the Academic Freedom Alliance (AFA); and is on hiatus with AEA, AFM and SAG-AFTRA.
