Scott Wheeler

Scott Wheeler’s operas have been commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera. the Guggenheim Foundation and White Snake Projects. His music has been performed by violinist Gil Shaham, conductor Kent Nagano, as well as singers Renee Fleming, Anthony Roth Costanzo, and Susanna Phillips. Scott’s works can be heard on New World, Naxos, Bridge, BMOP Sound, and various other labels.
Recent premieres include works for violinists Gil Shaham and Markus Placci, sopranos Susan Narucki and Katherine Lerner Lee, Boston Artists Ensemble, and the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, where he has also appeared as pianist. In 2025 Scott was guest conductor with the 21st Century Consort in Washington and Dinosaur Annex in Boston.
At Emerson he has taught musical theater, world music, and songwriting.
