Regge Life, executive director at Global Film Network Inc., and professor emeritus at Emerson College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in media, filmmaking, and production.
With over five decades of experience, Life has built a distinguished career in media, focusing on filmmaking and production. He works to bring stories from filmmakers around the world to American and international audiences, often focusing on narratives overlooked by mainstream media. Life oversees projects from inception to completion, directing and producing films and television content.
His previous roles include assistant professor in the department of radio, TV, and film at Howard University from 2009 to 2011, and guest associate professor in the same department in 2007. He has also contributed his expertise through master classes in directing at institutions such as Annapurna College of Film and Media, the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, the London College of Communication, American University, and the Communication University of China in Beijing.
Life’s creative contributions include authoring <em>Becoming an Actor’s Director: Directing Actors for Film and Television</em>, published in 2019. As a screenwriter, producer, and director, his notable works include <em>Cocktail Party</em> in 2015, <em>Seriously Fresh</em> in 1989, <em>Reunion</em> in 1988, and <em>Max</em> in 1976. Additionally, he has directed numerous documentaries and theater productions. He has earned several prestigious awards including Best Black Film for <em>Reason to Hope</em> at the 26th Black International Film Festival in Berlin in 2011, and three Cine Golden Eagle Awards for <em>Doubles</em> in 1996, <em>Struggle and Success</em> in 1994, and <em>Seriously Fresh</em> in 1990. His film <em>Reunion</em> won the Gold Award at the Philadelphia International Film Festival in 1989, and he has also received an Emmy nomination.
Mr. Life is also actively involved in various organizations, serving on the boards of the Spencertown Academy, the Institute for the International Education of Students Abroad, the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission, and the Japanese-American National Museum. He is also affiliated with the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers, the Society of Directors and Choreographers, and the Directors Guild of America, volunteers with dog rescue organizations, and is a patron of the Northshore Humane Society.
