The Late Show with Stephen Colbert ended its run on television with another Outstanding Variety Series win, earning Emmy Awards for two Emerson alumni during the 78th Emmy Awards ceremony on Monday night.
Co-executive producer Opus Moreschi ’00 won his seventh Emmy Award for The Late Show, and producer Ballard Boyd ’94 won his third Emmy.
Moreschi also took home an Emmy last week at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. He has received 28 Emmy nominations for his work on The Late Show, Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, and Colbert-related election specials. Boyd has received six Emmy nominations for his work on The Late Show, and Colbert-related election specials.
Moreschi was one of three Emerson alumni to win Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
In the Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming (Segment) category, editor Amanda Sprecher ’10 won her first Emmy for a segment in the series finale of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert featuring Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello.
Additionally, Chris “CDC” Del Conte ’93, director of visual effects for virtual production and innovative technologies at Amazon MGM Studios, oversaw the special visual effects in an Emmy-winning episode of the series Spider Noir. The show, which stars Nicolas Cage, won in the Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode category, in addition to four others.
