The Boylston Place Bike Room at 19 Boylston Place and the Ansin Building Bike Parking Facility are available to the Emerson College community on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration is required for use of both rooms. Residential students using the bike rooms for overnight storage must renew their registration each year. All bikes must have a registration sticker affixed to the crossbar. Registration stickers can be picked up at the ID office at 114 Boylston Street.

Maintenance Closures

  • The bike rooms will be closed for maintenance at the end of each semester, as needed. During this time, all bikes must be removed. Notice of an upcoming closure will be shared via email with all registered users of the bike rooms at least two weeks in advance.
  • Every effort will be made to schedule maintenance such that one of the two bike rooms remains open at all times for commuters.

Overnight Parking & Time Limits

  • Overnight Parking: Only registered residential students are allowed to park bikes overnight in designated spaces.
  • Commuter Bike Racks: Green-painted racks are for daily use only and may not be used for overnight parking. Bikes left in the green-painted racks after midnight will be removed and placed in storage for up to two weeks. After two weeks, unclaimed bikes will be disposed of.
  • Exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis upon request.

Bike Storage Guidelines

  • Only non-motorized, pedal-powered bikes are allowed in the bike rooms.
  • In compliance with Community Standards, self-propelled scooters, electric bikes, and motorized vehicles are prohibited in enclosed bike rooms or anywhere on campus. The City of Boston maintains a map of bike racks that can be used for outdoor parking of these vehicles.

Storage Recommendations for Residential Students

  • Due to limited space, residential students are encouraged to store bikes in their rooms during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Summer bike storage is available only for commuting employees and for students residing on campus during the summer. Students residing on campus during the summer must renew their bike registration for the summer.

Responsibilities & Risk

  • Bikes must be securely locked.
  • Bikes should not be locked over other bikes.
  • Emerson College is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged bikes. Use of the bike rooms is at your own risk.
