Communication Disorders MS Admission Requirements

The following items are required for your application to the Communication Disorders MS program:

  • CSDCAS Online Application
    • Once we receive your verified CSDCAS application, you will receive an email that confirms the receipt of your application and invites you to set up an account in the Emerson College Application Portal.
    • If you are an Emerson undergraduate student applying to the program, use this Application Form, not the CSDCAS application.
  • Official Transcripts
    • Official transcript requirements must be sent to CSDCAS at the address below:

    • Once you are accepted into the Communication Disorders program, Emerson College also requires a copy of your official transcripts.
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Resume
  • Admission Essay: To be submitted with your CSDCAS application. Please review the submission instructions directly in CSDCAS.
    • How does the focus and curriculum of the Communication Disorders MS program align with your experience and goals? What particular aspects of your current and/or future work do you hope to develop while in graduate school? 250–500 words.
    • Drawing on your personal, professional, creative, and/or academic experience, please share an example of a time that you overcame an individual or collective challenge and the approach you took to address that challenge. 250–500 words.
    • The mission of Emerson College is the betterment of society through communication and the arts. With this in mind, what impact do you want your work to have? 250–500 words.
  • Interview
    • Highly qualified candidates will be invited to interview.
  • English Proficiency
    • Applicants whose native language is not English must provide evidence of English proficiency by submitting official TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or Pearson test results.

Current Emerson Undergraduate Applicants

We are proud to offer an early admission deadline and application fee waiver to current graduating seniors. Undergraduate students of any major are encouraged to apply.

Dates to Know

  • The early admission deadline is November 1.
  • Applicants will be notified in December if they received early admission.
  • Applicants who do not receive early admission will still be considered for regular admission with no further action required.

Admission Requirements

Undergraduate student application requirements are the same as the regular admission requirements stated above except for the letters of recommendation, which are outlined below.

  • Letters of Recommendation Requirements
    • Current Emerson CD Students: 2 letters of recommendation. Your recommenders must be from the Emerson CD program.
    • All other Emerson Undergraduate Students: 3 letters of recommendation. 2 of your recommenders must be from Emerson faculty.
      • Recommendations may be emailed to gradadmission@emerson.edu or sent to: Office of Graduate Admission, Walker 530, 120 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02116.
