As a rhetoric and gender scholar, Dr. Mary Anne Taylor’s research investigates and often challenges dominant discourses of power in the public spheres of American politics, health, and sports communication.

Her work is published in the journal of Women’s Studies in Communication, Women and Language, American Behavioral Scientist, Qualitative Health Research, and the Journal of Health Communication. She has also presented her work at national, international, and regional conferences on the rhetorics of gender, race, and sexuality in sports, health, and politics.

She is the graduate program director of Political Communication and Sports Communication, the faculty athletic representative, and the faculty director of the Sydney, Australia Global Pathway Program – an immersive study abroad program that engages communication, leadership, and cultural studies.

Dr. Taylor joined Emerson College from the Department of Management at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin).
