TV host and actress Maria Menounos ’00 produced and stars in Bobo Saves Christmas, one of several films and programs featuring Emerson alumni screening at this year’s Boston Film Festival, running September 16 to September 21.
Bobo Saves Christmas follows a struggling father who adopts a scruffy dog, setting him on a path toward a brighter future. Rob Moran ’82 also stars in the film. The film will open the festival and, like many of this year’s festival selections, will screen at Emerson’s Paramount Center in the Bright Family Screening Room on September 16 at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the film and the Q&A immediately following are free to the Emerson community in partnership with Emerson College Master Classes. Judee Wales ’10 stars in and co-produced A Minor Time, which was also co-produced by Susan Batson ’64.
Caitlin McCarthy, MFA ’94 wrote and served as associate producer for Little Audrey, a film about a Vatican investigation into alleged miracles surrounding a teenage girl in a coma-like state.
Six Emerson alumni were involved in the making of the comedy Bolio, which is about a depressed high school shop teacher who teams up with a charming life coach in an effort to win back his estranged wife.
Jenna Lourenco, MA ’11, MFA ’21, was an additional costumer, Joanna Murphy ’99 was a costumer, Suja Ono ’14 was the on-set dresser, Seacia Pavoa MA ’98 was the still photographer, Allison Nicole Tucker, MA ’16, was the second assistant director, and Stephanie Velez ’20 was a local production assistant.
Emiko Sawanobori ’09 is credited with “story by” for four episodes of the animated series Adventure Time: Side Quests.
Also appearing at the festival is Come What May, a documentary about comedian Ralphie May that features an interview with Jay Leno ’73, LHD ’14.
