Launch your screenwriting career in Emerson’s low-residency Writing for Film and Television Master of Fine Arts program.
Begin each semester with a one-week residency on our Boston (Fall) or Los Angeles campus (Spring). During each residency, you will participate in lectures, screenings, writing workshops, and a Masterclass with a guest film or television writer. Previous guest screenwriters have included:
- Krista Vernoff, Showrunner for Grey’s Anatomy
- David Magee, Writer of Life of Pi
- Mara Brock Akil, Executive Producer of Black Lightning
As a student in the program, you’ll build a writing portfolio that includes polished short, pilot, and feature scripts, while working with faculty mentors with industry connections and experiences to share with you. Our low-residency format allows you to build invaluable relationships in-person with your peers before moving into the online learning environment. There are no GRE requirements to apply.
Upon completing the program, you’ll have the practice, confidence, and meaningful connections you need to launch your writing career and introduce your stories to the world.
