Emerson was well represented at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 5 and 6, where dozens of Emerson alumni were nominated and a few took home trophies.
In the Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming (Segment) category, editor Amanda Sprecher ‘10 won her first Emmy for a segment in the series finale of The Stephen Colbert Show featuring Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello.
Also for Colbert, Opus Moreschi ‘00 won his sixth Emmy in the Outstanding Writing for A Variety Series category. He previously won five Emmy Awards and received 28 nominations.
Additionally, Chris “CDC” Del Conte ‘93, director of visual effects for virtual production and innovative technologies at Amazon MGM Studios, oversaw the special visual effects in an Emmy-winning episode of the series Spider Noir. The show, which stars Nicolas Cage, won in the Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode category, in addition to four others.
Two Emersonians are also nominated in categories that will be awarded during the televised 78th Emmy Awards ceremony on September 14.
Joe Mande ‘05 is executive producer of Hacks, which is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. Mande has previously won one Emmy award and received seven nominations.
World of Wonder, the production company co-created by Emerson Trustee Randy Barbato ‘82, LHD ‘24, is also nominated in the Outstanding Reality Competition Program category for Ru Paul’s Drag Race, as well as in the Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program category for Ru Paul’s Drag Race Untucked. Barbato has been previously nominated for 21 Emmys and won five.
