Graduate Student Services Fee
The Graduate Student Services Fee is a consolidation of campus-required fees that support several College services. The Graduate Student Services Fee is paid by all students at Emerson College. The following components make up the fee.
- Student Services: Registration, Orientation, Commencement
- Health Services
- Graduate Student Association
The components covered under the Graduate Student Services Fee provide the following services.
Student Services Fee
The Student Services Fee supports all departments that provide student-oriented services and activities on campus, such as the Registrarās Office, Student Life, Graduate Studies, and the Commencement Office.
Graduate Student Association Fee
The Graduate Student Association Fee is charged to each student to support research activities, professional opportunities, and graduate student organization activities.
Health Services Fee
This fee helps cover the cost of visit/appointments at the Center for Health & Wellness (CHW) and Emerson Counseling and Psychological Services.(ECAPS) All Graduate students enrolled in the College sponsored insurance plan are assessed the Health fee. Graduate students with private insurance may elect to pay the separate health clinic fee in order to be eligible for services.
Health Insurance
Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires all college students attending 75% FTE (6 credits for graduate students), who are not enrolled solely in short term courses or an online program, to be covered by a qualified insurance plan. The College will automatically enroll all students in the College sponsored plan unless proof of comparable coverage is submitted annually. Graduate students may waive enrollment in the College plan and the health fee by competing and submitting a waiver demonstrating comparable insurance. Learn more about health insurance waivers.
Late Registration Fee
This fee is assessed each time a student changes his or her class schedule after pre-registration.
Academic Course Fees
Students enrolled in certain courses, particularly those in Mass Communication, Computer Applications, Dance, and Voice and Music, will pay an additional fee. Academic departments set the fees to cover material and equipment costs. Questions about these fees should be directed to their respective departments. Most courses do not have fees.
