Program Overview

This immersive experience will offer an interdisciplinary, two-course option for students interested in the intersections between ecology, media and storytelling. Split between the beautiful hilltop town of Orvieto and a World Wildlife Fund conservation site near the town of Todi, students will have the opportunity to learn how to combine methods used in ecological conservation and creative media storytelling while gaining a deep understanding of the ways in which cultural heritage, environment and history intertwine to create a sense of place for both the human and more-than human world.

Academic Highlights

  • Classroom and fieldwork will cover foundations in ecology and environmental media storytelling
  • Guest lectures in regional botany, biology, foodways, archaeology, and cultural history
  • Outings to national parks and Rome
  • Field work and on-site media making in conjunction with a conservation area hosted by the World Wildlife Fund
