Amy Rinaldo joined Emerson’s Office of International Student Affairs in January 2022 as the Associate Director of English Language Learning (ELL). In this role, Amy supports international and multilingual students in developing their language and communication skills. She also provides consultations and training for staff and faculty at Emerson to better understand and support these students.
Amy brings over a decade of English language teaching and leadership experience and has lived and taught in Argentina, China, Thailand, Poland, California, and Massachusetts. She is passionate about empowering students and building multilingual communities through interactive explorations of language, culture, and effective communication. Amy holds an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from SIT Graduate Institute, Vermont, and a B.A. in Art History with a minor in Political Science from University of California, San Diego. Prior to Emerson, she served as the Associate Director of English Language Programs at Brandeis University, and has worked on program and curriculum development in a variety of contexts including adult education, job-readiness, and teacher training programs. Amy is an active member of TESOL and has led workshops on corpus linguistics, American small talk, community exploration activities, and climate crisis education. Outside of work, Amy enjoys triathlons, cooking, sci-fi, gardening, and her dog, Alvin. She loves conversations about language and culture, climate justice, and basketball.
