Demi Vitkute is a journalist, editor, and consultant. She has written for CNN Underscored, The Washington Post, Inside Hook, MSN, GBH News, and other national and international publications.
In 2016, immediately after graduating with a degree in journalism from Emerson College, she founded The Urban Watch Magazine, a digital publication that covers culture, fashion, technology, and entrepreneurship. She has continued to manage and edit the magazine since then, securing media partnerships with Microsoft Start and She Media (Penske Media Corporation).
In 2020, she won a grant from the Columbia Journalism School’s Brown Institute for Media Innovation to launch an investigative project, called Fashion Watch—a tracker tool designed to document and expose cases of sexual abuse in the fashion industry.
Demi is passionate about press freedom and the future of media, particularly at the intersection of entrepreneurship and technology. She has consulted numerous companies on media innovation, PR, and growth strategies and has helped launch startups from the ground up.
As a professor, she’s dedicated to guiding the next generation of journalists to discover their full potential and navigate the unpredictable nature of modern media.
