Evan Henry Gallivan is the Associate Vice President for Advancement Communications and Special Initiatives and serves as a member of Institutional Advancement’s leadership team. In this capacity, he oversees strategy, content, and creative development of a full portfolio of strategic communications, events, and special initiatives to Emerson’s alumni, families, and friends in support of the College’s engagement and fundraising goals. He conceives of and implements an engagement strategy that builds on existing programs and channels; evaluates current staffing and departmental structure; and establishes robust partnerships with other college departments in order to create excitement and activity across all audiences. As the lead communicator for Institutional Advancement, Evan works with the Communications and Marketing division to align IA’s messaging and branding across editorial development, design, and production of communications collateral for both internal and external audiences with the College’s visual identity and branding.

Evan has over twenty years of higher education development and communications experience. He previously served as Executive Director of Donor Engagement at Rhode Island School of Design, where he oversaw the advancement communications, special events, and donor relations teams. He has also served as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement for the Boston Architectural College leading the development and communications teams, and he began his career in development at Harvard Business School and Northeastern University. Evan received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Wheaton College (MA) and a Masters of Business Administration in Marketing and Organizational Behavior from Northeastern University.
