Ceremony Broadcasts
All of our graduation ceremonies will be broadcasted live with closed captions in English, Spanish, and Mandarin. Visit emerson.edu/live for the broadcast at the scheduled time. You can view past graduation ceremonies on YouTube!
Health and Safety
For the safety of all, Emerson may at its discretion, or under the direction of government or health authorities, change ceremony plans regarding modalities, activities, or venues. Additionally, venues may choose to adopt more stringent requirements and it is important to visit and revisit their websites as the ceremony nears.
Ceremonies
Emerson College holds graduation ceremonies once a year in May for graduates of the current academic year (September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025). If you will earn your degree in December 2024 or in August 2025, your ceremony will be in May 2025. Speech@Emerson December graduates will have their own graduation ceremony in December 2024. Speech@Emerson May and August graduates will have their own graduation ceremony in August 2025.
Graduating students may only participate in the ceremony that coincides with the academic year of their degree completion, and only graduating students may participate in the ceremony or be admitted to student lineup or the student seating area. If a personal assistant is required as a disability accommodation, please contact sas [at] emerson.edu (Student Accessibility Services).
In order to graduate each student must first complete an Intent to Graduate form. Once the Registrar’s Office reviews and approves your form, you will be added to the Class of 2025 email distribution list and receive information from the commencement [at] emerson.edu (Commencement Office). School of the Arts Graduate Hooding Ceremony
This is the ceremony for master's degree recipients in the School of the Arts Creative Writing, Film & Media Art, Popular Fiction Writing & Publishing, Publishing & Writing, Theatre Education, and Writing for Film & Television programs. All master's degree recipients are also invited to process in regalia in the Commencement Ceremony of the academic year that they graduate.

School of Communication Graduate Hooding Ceremony
This is the ceremony for master's degree recipients in the School of Communication Business of Creative Enterprises, Communication Disorders–Residential, Communication Management, Digital Communication Leadership, Digital Marketing & Data Analytics, Journalism, Journalism & Media Innovation, Marketing, Media Design, Political Communication, Print & Multimedia Journalism, Public Relations, Sports Communication, and Strategic Marketing Communication programs. All master's degree recipients are also invited to process in regalia in the Commencement Ceremony of the academic year that they graduate.
