First Year and Transfer Housing

New to Emerson students, both first year students and transfer students will gain access to the housing application process via their admissions portal once they are a deposited student. This happens in early May for the fall semester and mid-fall for the following spring. Through this application, a student will complete a lifestyle questionnaire and room preferences. First Year students are also able to make roommate pairings or trios if they choose, however, we encourage students to leave that work to our talented staff.

Transfer students will also complete a lifestyle questionnaire and room preferences. Our housing operations team will then review all submitted materials and place students in their assignment for the upcoming year. Transfer student housing is in Little Building. Students will learn about the housing placement no later than August 1 for the fall and late fall for the spring semester. We do not do any room changes once assignments go live, but will happily answer any questions a student might have on their placement or pairing.

Returning students participate in the housing selection process for the upcoming academic year during the spring semester. Housing Selection is a multi-phase process which includes an application and self-selection into their space for the upcoming year. Students will have the opportunity to form groups to apply for a suite together or navigate the process as an individual. Students without a housing requirement are also able to apply to participate in the process.

Graduate Student Housing

Graduate students also have the opportunity to apply for on campus housing and will gain access to the housing application process once they are a deposited student. All occupants must be enrolled full time in a registered Emerson on-campus Boston graduate program. In your application you will be able to share information about yourself in a profile for roommate matching and you may also share preferred roommate. Graduate Housing is for the full academic year and follows the academic calendar, which means the residence halls do close for the break periods. All rooms are furnished, double occupancy Suites with shared bathrooms within the suite (Suites will either have 2-3 double bedrooms within suite OR be a Stand-alone Double room).
