Dr. Anthony Pinder is the vice provost for global engagement and programs. He provides leadership to the offices of International Student Affairs; Education Abroad and Domestic Programs; English Language Learning; and initiatives that support International Fellowships and Awards, International Visitors and Scholars, and International Faculty Support Services.
As the senior international officer, he is responsible for managing and building on all of the College’s international operations, such as managing the programmatic operations at Emerson College’s European Center at Kasteel Well (“The Castle”) in The Netherlands. He oversees the College’s global partnerships and over 15 additional international institutional partnerships/agreements. He established Emerson’s Global Pathways Program and leads the President’s Fund for Curriculum Innovation (PFCI), which focuses on the internationalization of the curriculum.
Pinder’s research and professional interests focus on the international dimensions of higher education at the institutional, system, national, and international levels; student global learning outcomes/assessment; and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). He is the co- editor of Reimagining Internationalization and International Initiatives at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (Palgrave/Macmillan). His 26 years in higher education have included roles at Morehouse College and Dillard University. Prior to Emerson, he served as the charter director of internationalization and assistant professor of education at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC).
He is the recipient of Atlanta’s 2025 Diamond Award for Excellence in Education and the 2023 Executive Leader of the Year in International Education Award from the Diversity Abroad Association. He serves on numerous boards, including the Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program.
Dr Pinder holds a doctorate in educational leadership and higher education administration from Clark Atlanta University, an MA in international economics and Latin American studies from Johns Hopkins University, and a BA in finance from Morehouse College.
