Gerlo Beernink is a professional photographer, teacher, and coach.
He has been teaching the History of Photography and Digital and Studio Photography at Kasteel Well since 2005.
He studied physics and mathematics at the University of Nijmegen. Since then, he has been working as a photographer and photojournalist. He worked for governmental, care, and educational institutions. He continues to work for many of the best newspapers and magazines in the Netherlands.
He works in many photographic fields, such as architecture, reportage, and portraits. In addition, he has been teaching at the University of Utrecht's School of Journalism, the Dutch Institute for Digital Photography, and at the University of Applied Sciences in Apeldoorn. He has won many prominent awards for his photographs, including prizes at the World Press Photo and the Dutch Zilveren Camera Award.
