Joy is an award nominated NYC and Boston based union musical theatre performer, collaborator and educator. She attended the Boston Conservatory, receiving her Masters of Fine Arts in Musical Theater. She studied under Tony nominee, Maureen Brennan, and was chosen to workshop with Broadway songwriting team, Richard Maltby and David Shire on their own material from the musical Baby. As a performer, Joy’s career has spanned theaters from the East Coast to the West, her work ranging from the comedic to the dramatic; from Shakespeare to musicals, being described as a “chameleon” in the industry. Joy currently teaches Musical theatre dance at Emerson College and Berklee College of Music, as well as teaching masterclasses from coast to coast. Joy and her partner, Ryan Mardesich, privately coach song and monologue interpretation, and give lectures on audition technique, and theater as a business. As a choreographer, Joy choreographs for professional and youth theatres alike. Recent productions include Fiddler on the Roof, for which Joy restaged Jerome Robbins’ original Broadway choreography. Joy’s choreography for professional productions of Seussical and Stuart Little were seen by hundreds of families at the Boston Children’s Museum, and Wheelock Family Theater.
