Hello Emerson community-- and thank you for visiting the CSL’s page! My name is Julie and I’ve been here at Emerson since 2019 where I have the privilege of serving as the Campus Chaplain & Director of Spiritual and Religious Life. Prior to Emerson, I worked in a variety of faith communities and higher ed settings including the Center for Global Education in Cuernavaca, Mexico, Harvard University, and the Church of the Covenant (UCC/PCUSA). I’m a graduate of Harvard Divinity School where I focused on liberation theologies, preaching and public speaking, spiritual counseling, and the spiritual development of young adults. In addition to all-things-CSL, I’m passionate about how spiritual communities can be a force for liberation and dismantling supremacy and I’ve spent a lot of time involved in movements for LGBTQ liberation, immigrant justice, climate change, and racial justice. I’m also an enormous fan of musical theatre, Thai food, my family (which includes my son Ezekiel and my wife Alyssa), and game nights. You can reach me at julie_avisrogers [at] emerson.edu.
