Vijay is the Cultural Strategist and Co-Founder of HowlRound Theatre Commons, established in 2011 and based at Emerson College in Boston. He also serves as the Accessibility Producer at Black Heart, a digital communications agency. Additionally, he is a board member of Double Edge Theatre in Ashfield, Massachusetts. At Emerson College, he teaches the undergraduate and graduate course HowlRound Seminar: Topics in Contemporary Theatre Practice.
Over the past decade, Vijay has helped develop HowlRound Theatre Commons' unique characteristics as a community-edited online space. His work has enabled numerous artists and nonprofit organizations worldwide to livestream their conferences, discussions, and performances—with a focus on accessibility and resource efficiency in digital environments. His expertise includes implementing digital accessibility standards and sustainable online practices.
Vijay holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre and Directing from New School University and a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies from University of Chicago. He has earned the IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) credential in 2023, demonstrating his technical and cultural competency in digital accessibility.
His background includes collaborative work as a filmmaker and theatre creator. He participated in the Directing Fellowship program for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at CBS Studios in Los Angeles, and his professional credits include work on Broadway as well as various regional theatre productions throughout the United States.
