• Online courses will use the Emerson Online template in Canvas, which presents content in weekly modules
  • Class participation will count for at least 30% of the course grade
    • Faculty teaching writing workshops in the Low Residency Screenwriting MFA may choose a percentage between 15-30% of the final grade.

  • Enrollment will be usually capped at 20 to ensure interaction (faculty/student and student/student)
  • The course syllabus will include:
    • Boundaries for a standard online course week and/or defined synchronous course meeting times
    • Clearly stated requirements and evaluation criteria for online (oral and/or written) participation in the course
    • Course-level learning goals (outcomes) that indicate what the student will be expected to do upon completion of the course; established asynchronous and/or synchronous discussions and student work should align with these goals.
    • Course-level assessments that align with course-level learning goals and which measure the degree to which the student has realized the defined learning goals
    • The course shall also include:
      • Listing of faculty virtual office hours
      • Links to the online Emerson resources
      • Links to online student services
      • Standard discussion forums for Course News and Announcements; Questions/Comments; Introductions; Weekly Discussions
  • Online students will have access to advising, library, writing center and disability services
