- Online courses will use the Emerson Online template in Canvas, which presents content in weekly modules
- Class participation will count for at least 30% of the course grade

Faculty teaching writing workshops in the Low Residency Screenwriting MFA may choose a percentage between 15-30% of the final grade.

- Enrollment will be usually capped at 20 to ensure interaction (faculty/student and student/student)
- The course syllabus will include:
- Boundaries for a standard online course week and/or defined synchronous course meeting times
- Clearly stated requirements and evaluation criteria for online (oral and/or written) participation in the course
- Course-level learning goals (outcomes) that indicate what the student will be expected to do upon completion of the course; established asynchronous and/or synchronous discussions and student work should align with these goals.
- Course-level assessments that align with course-level learning goals and which measure the degree to which the student has realized the defined learning goals
- The course shall also include:
- Listing of faculty virtual office hours
- Links to the online Emerson resources
- Links to online student services
- Standard discussion forums for Course News and Announcements; Questions/Comments; Introductions; Weekly Discussions
- Online students will have access to advising, library, writing center and disability services
