General Self Service
Use General Self Service to update your emergency contacts, address, and phone number, updated first name, preferred pronouns, and/or a gender identity. You can also grant proxy access to your student record.

You can update your first name, preferred pronoun, or gender identity under General Self Service > Personal Information.
Your legal name will still appear in your Student Health Portal (Medicat) and your official transcript. Emerson also reports your enrollment to National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) using your legal name.
Speech@Emerson students: If you edit your first name under General Self Service > Personal Information, please also notify studentsuccess [at] speech.emerson.edutitle="Email the Office of Student Success" of any changes to your record.
Preferred pronouns will appear on Canvas, your Degree Audit, and other services used by faculty and staff.
