We are grateful to all our donors for their commitment to Emerson’s future. There are many ways in which the Emerson community has supported our endeavors in the 2024 fiscal year. Philanthropic support fuels Emerson's success by empowering our students, strengthening our network, sustaining innovative academic programs, enhancing co-curricular experiences, and uplifting our arts and cultural organizations including ArtsEmerson, HowlRound, Ploughshares, and WERS 88.9 FM. Innovative programs and community initiatives thrive at Emerson through support from our valued alumni, families, and friends.

Q: What inspired you to get involved with your alma mater as a volunteer?
A: I had a great experience at Emerson as an undergraduate and much of that had to do with the amazing alumni I got to know during my time there. I've now reached a point in my life where I recognize the importance of lifting up the next generation. Emerson is a great school with uniquely talented students. Keeping our community strong and vibrant is crucial to the success of the school and all who have or will attend.
Q: How has volunteering helped you network with fellow alumni or current students?
A: Since I started volunteering I've met so many incredible people who are also eager to help fellow Emersonians. Whether you need an industry connection, a friend in a new city, or someone to mentor you - there are so many alumni ready and willing to help. Whether you graduated 5 years ago or 50 years ago, there's a real sense of belonging.
Q: How do you hope to influence the future of your alma mater through your volunteer work?
A: I was a student-athlete at Emerson and spent four years on the varsity softball team. I have a very strong interest in helping Emerson student-athletes stay connected as alumni. Our former student-athletes have gone on to do incredible things and I hope to help shine a bright light on these magnificent people.

Going to Emerson made a huge impact on me when it came to shaping my career, being myself, and of course learning. I feel very strongly about the need for the arts and media to represent a diverse set of voices and experiences, not just the privileged. Anything I can do to help a student's voice and experience make it into the world through Emerson, and with Emerson's wonderful programs and community, is my way of putting my words into action on this principle.
I was inspired to establish a scholarship because Emerson was the last financial aid letter I received while I was applying to undergraduate colleges, and it made all of the difference. Adding to that, I received another scholarship after my freshman year that carried over through my senior year and was structured very similarly to the scholarship I established. Since then, my goal was to one day set up a similar scholarship. I decided to name it after my maternal great-grandmother Aida, and my paternal grandmother Malihe, both immigrants from Italy and Iran respectively, for their support of the women in their family to pursue education at a time when that was not common. Everyone should have the opportunity to dream their impossible dream!

Living across the country (we are in Los Angeles) being a Family Ambassador allowed me to stay involved and get an inside view on what's going on. Before moving my daughter in her first year, the Family Ambassadors were so helpful and supportive and provided such good, informative, and sound advice which made the transition just a little bit smoother. I was so grateful, I felt the strong desire to give back.
