Emerson College’s Engagement Lab offers the Social Impact Design minor. Undergraduate students in this cross-departmental program apply skills learned in the arts and communication to tackle critical social justice issues.

About the Undergraduate Social Impact Design Minor

Through collaborations with community partners, students will develop experiential learning projects that integrate research and practice to create social impact. These real-world experiences provide students with the opportunity to synthesize and apply different modes of academic inquiry, intellectual perspectives, and problem-solving techniques to have a positive impact in our communities.

The Social Impact Design minor is open to all majors across the College. Students must have at least sophomore standing.

Four courses (16 credits) are required for the minor, including the core course, SI 200 Co-Design Studio. The remaining 12 credits are fulfilled by completing three different SI 300 Social Impact Studios courses.
