When and where is the formal Investiture Ceremony?

The Investiture Ceremony of Dr. Jay M. Bernhardt as Emerson’s 13th President will take place at the College’s Cutler Majestic Theatre at 219 Tremont Street in Boston, Massachusetts. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will last approximately 90 minutes.

Who is invited?

Emerson students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends are invited to all events listed on the Inauguration website, as well as delegates and special guests.

Do I need a ticket?

No physical tickets will be issued, but you will need to register online for most events and receive an electronic confirmation of attendance. Most events have limited availability, so it is best to RSVP early to ensure access.

Where can delegates go for information about regalia and other details?

We will communicate with delegates as they register. The Inauguration ceremony is Friday, March 22, 2024. Delegates will take part in the academic procession that precedes the ceremony.

Delegates should plan to arrive at the Bill Bordy Theater at 216 Tremont Street by 9:00 am with their academic regalia. Staff will assist delegates in lining up in order of the date of the founding of their institutions. The ceremony begins at 10:30 am. All delegates are welcome to attend the Community Celebration Lunch Reception at the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym following the ceremony.
