Tickets

Tickets are required for guests and are distributed directly to students. Please see the Graduating Students’ tickets page for details about tickets.

Children

Children aged 2 and older will be required to have their own ticket. Also, please be aware that strollers will not be allowed into the seating area and must be stored in the lobby.

Venue Accessibility

There will be a drop-off area on Tremont Street in front of the Wang Theatre and all theatres have wheelchair-accessible locations where guests may remain in their wheelchairs or transfer to theatre seats.

The Wang Theatre is equipped with an elevator in the Grand Lobby allowing for accessible seating on all levels of the Theatre. The Shubert Theatre (for the All-College Commencement overflow viewing) does not have elevators, and accessible locations are limited to the orchestra level.

Assistive Listening Devices will be available for loan at the Box Office in the lobby of the theatre in exchange for an identification card.

The live program will be ASL interpreted from the right side of the stage as you face it from the audience, and captions in English, Spanish, and Mandarin will be available for personal mobile devices.

Accessibility Requests

Venues will not reserve a wheelchair space for your own chair, or an assistive listening device in advance. However, you can greatly help us plan for your visit by sharing your anticipated accessibility needs.

Transportation and Parking

The Wang Theatre is within walking distance of several subway, or T stops, such as:

  • Boylston Street (Green Line)
  • Chinatown (Orange Line)
  • Downtown Crossing (Red and Orange Lines)
  • Park Street (Red Line)

Parking is very limited for the Wang Theatre. Public transportation or ridesharing is encouraged. You can plan your public transportation ahead of time using the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) trip planner.

Please visit the Boch Center website for directions and parking recommendations.

Security and Bags

To help ensure the highest level of safety and security, all guests are subject to security searches with metal detection devices. All bags will be searched and must be smaller than 12 inches × 12 inches × 6 inches (30 × 30 × 15 cm), with the exception of diaper bags. If you can forgo a bag, please do as it will speed entry into the venue.

No food or beverages will be allowed in the theatres.

Please do not bring items that will block the view or disturb the enjoyment of others such as helium balloons, large signs, or noisemakers.

For the safety of all, Emerson may at its discretion, or under the direction of government or health authorities, change ceremony plans regarding modalities, activities, or venues.

Hotels and Lodging

Please see the College's accommodations webpage to view discounts for Emerson guests at campus area hotels. We recommend that guests book hotels or vacation rentals well in advance as there are many graduation ceremonies in Boston in May.

All ceremonies will be adjacent to the Boston campus.
